CCAP Emergency Management and Veterans Affairs Committee 911 Policy Hearing
News Date: Wednesday, October 28, 2026
What: The County Commissioners Association of Pennsylvania’s (CCAP) Emergency Management and Veterans Affairs Committee will hold a policy hearing focused on the need for sustainable funding for Pennsylvania’s 911 system and the counties responsible for operating and maintaining it. The hearing will highlight CCAP’s 2026 legislative priority of increasing the monthly 911 surcharge from $1.95 to $2.20 per device or line to help keep pace with the growing costs of emergency communications. County leaders and emergency communications professionals will discuss the financial pressures facing 911 centers, the importance of maintaining reliable service and supporting the professionals who answer emergency calls, and why a modest increase in the surcharge is needed to help counties meet these demands and ensure Pennsylvanians can reach emergency assistance when they need it most.
When: October 30, 2026, 9:30am-11:30am
Where: Berks County Services Center, located on the 13th floor in the Commissioners Board Room - 633 Court Street Reading, PA 19601. This event will also be livestreamed on our YouTube page, the link to the stream can be found here.
