April is National County Government Month
News Date: Tuesday, April 7, 2026
National County Government Month, held each April, is a celebration of county government.
April is National County Government Month (NCGM), celebrating county employees, partnerships and programs across the United States. Since 1991, NCGM has helped to shine a light on how counties serve the needs of residents.
Throughout the month, counties will honor the 3.6 million strong county workforce, educate residents about local programs and services and boost civic engagement to strengthen the connections between local government and residents.
