Board of Assessment Appeal Training (as required by Act 155 of 2018)
UPDATED - Board of Assessment Appeal Trainings Rescheduled

The Board of Assessment Appeal trainings sponsored by the County Commissioners Association of Pennsylvania (CCAP) and the Assessors’ Association of Pennsylvania (AAP) have been rescheduled as live webinars on June 3, 4, and 5 for all current board of assessment appeal/revision, exemption and auxiliary board members. By June 15, all board members will also be able to take the training online on demand through CCAP. Additional information about the online on demand classes will be shared when available. All three modules must be completed by June 30, 2020.

This training program for all board of assessment appeal/revision, exemption and auxiliary board members will satisfy the requirements of Act 155 of 2018 which requires all members of these boards to complete training to continue to hear county property tax assessment appeals.

  • Training is being offered as live webinars on June 3, 4 and 5 for all board of assessment appeal/revision, auxiliary appeal and exemption board members. By June 15, all board members will also be able to take all of the training online on demand through CCAP. CCAP will send out registration information for the online training as soon as it becomes available.
  • All individuals who serve on a board as of January 1, 2020 must complete their respective training modules by June 30, 2020.
  • Anyone appointed to a board after January 1, 2020 will have six months from the time of their appointment to complete the training.

REGISTRATION INFORMATION

 

  •  If you previously registered for the live or webinar modules, your registration will automatically be transferred to the June webinar classes. No further actions or monies are required on your part. You will receive a link to the actual webinar by email closer to the class dates. If you would rather take the classes using the online on demand method, those classes will be available by June 15. CCAP will share the registration information for those classes when it becomes available.

 

 

Cost: Each of the three training modules, for both the live webinar and on demand training option, is $10 per module. Only check payments will be accepted. Please send a copy of your class confirmation along with your check made payable to CCAP to “BOAA Training”, PO Box 60769, Harrisburg, PA 17106.

 

Board Members: We encourage board members taking the webinar training to watch the training along with the county’s chief assessor or someone from the county assessment office. Each board member will need to be registered individually. If your county is planning to have multiple board members take the webinar together, please have the county chief assessor register everyone online for the webinar. After the training module(s) has/have been completed and verified by the county assessment office, certificates of completion will be sent to the assessment office.

Classes are offered live webinars on these dates:

  • June 3 from 1 to 4 p.m.  – Module 1 - Assessment Valuations Process in PA
  • June 4 from 1 to 4 p.m. – Module 2 - Legal and Constitutional Issues
  • June 5 from 9 a.m. to noon – Module 3 - Real Estate Tax Exemptions

*On Demand viewing options for each module will be available by June 15.
