Dauphin County Social Services for Children & Youth is currently accepting applications for the full time, day shift position of Caseworker 1. An employee in this position will participate in formal and informal county agency training programs which provide knowledge of the methods, procedures, and regulations necessary to perform social service and case management. Workers' assignments are limited in scope and difficulty, and work is performed under close supervision. As knowledge and skills are acquired, more latitude in judgment and decision making is permitted. Work is performed under the close supervision of a professional social service or administrative supervisor and is reviewed through individual and group conferences. This is a union position.
Minimum Education, Experience, and Training Requirements:
A bachelor's degree which includes or is supplemented by successful completion of 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences; or two years of experience as a Social Services Aide 3 and an associate's degree which includes 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences; or any equivalent combination of experience and training and an associate's degree which includes 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences and one year of experience as a Social Services Aide 2 or in a similar position performing paraprofessional case management functions.

A valid driver's license and positive driving record, a favorable criminal background check and favorable child abuse and FBI clearances are required. Working during non-traditional hours may at times be required.
