A multi-year project to update and combine the County Code and Second Class County Code into a single comprehensive statute was signed into law as Act 154 of 2018, and takes effect on Dec. 24, 2018. The legislation brings counties' core statutes governing county operations up to date with current need and practice. Most changes are of a technical or conforming nature, though substantive changes were made to the extent needed to incorporate case law or delete obsolete language.
The Local Government Commission has put together a summary, a detailed analysis of the act's provisions, and disposition and derivation tables to enable comparison of the old law to the new. These, and a link to Act 154, are available on CCAP's Legislative Action Center and the Commission's website.
