Counties Express Concern Over MATP Funding
Counties have expressed concerns regarding the funding of the Medical Assistance Transportation Program (MATP) to the Department of Public Welfare (DPW). Last year, MATP was reduced by 18 percent in combined state and federal funds. Counties were told that the reduction would be absorbed by several cost-containment initiatives proposed by DPW. Most of these initiatives were never enacted or delayed. The delayed and failed initiatives combined with an increase in eligible consumers has resulted in counties having an insufficient amount of funds to operate the MATP program. Attached is the joint CCAP and PACHSA letter sent to Gary Alexander, DPW Secretary.
